Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
The Short Version
- No account required. We don't know who you are.
- No tracking. No analytics. No ads. Ever.
- Your choice. Keep data on-device only, or use iCloud.
- Your data. Export or delete it anytime.
1. Our Philosophy
We built Napstar with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. Tired parents have enough to worry about—their baby's sleep data shouldn't be monetized, tracked, or shared without explicit consent.
We don't collect personal information. We don't require accounts. We don't show ads. We don't sell data. It's that simple.
2. What Data Napstar Stores
Napstar stores only the data you create while using the app:
- Baby profile: Name, birth date, and whether baby was born premature
- Sleep sessions: Start time, end time, and optional metadata (how baby fell asleep, where they slept)
- Night feedings: Timestamps of feedings during night sleep (optional)
- App preferences: Bedtime window, notification settings, storage mode choice
That's it. No email addresses. No phone numbers. No location data. No usage analytics. No device identifiers.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
During setup, you choose one of two storage options:
You can change this setting at any time in the app's Settings menu.
4. Partner Sharing (iCloud Users Only)
If you choose iCloud storage, you can invite your partner to share access to your baby's sleep data. This uses Apple's built-in CloudKit Sharing feature:
- You control who has access
- You can revoke access at any time
- Data is shared directly between iCloud accounts—not through our servers
- We never see who you share with
5. Third-Party Services
Napstar uses minimal third-party services:
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iCloud (CloudKit) | Optional data sync and partner sharing | Your sleep data (only if you enable iCloud) |
| Apple Push Notifications | Nap window reminders | Device token only (no personal data) |
We do not use any analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.), advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or any service that tracks your behavior.
6. Data Export and Deletion
Your data belongs to you. You can:
- Export: Generate a PDF or CSV file of all sleep data from Settings → Export
- Delete: Remove all data using Settings → Reset All Data
- Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data. If using iCloud, data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it.
7. Children's Privacy
Napstar is designed for parents to track their baby's sleep. The app does not collect any information directly from children. All data entry is performed by the parent or caregiver.
8. Data Security
- On-device: Data is stored in iOS's secure container, protected by your device passcode and Face ID/Touch ID
- iCloud: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's industry-standard encryption
- No server: We don't operate servers that store your data, eliminating the most common attack vector
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and may notify you through an app update. We will never change our core commitment: your data stays private.
